Earth and humankind as we know it are heading towards extinction. Global warming and other phenomena are signs that Earth is over stressed, but we don’t seem to really care and with each day are getting closer to a point-of-no-return. Water is essential for life and we definitely can’t afford to lose it. But none the less we are at risk of running out of clean water on a global scale until the year 2050. Massive water consumption and the food industry go hand-in-hand.

In the project Unsustainable food – water consumption the author’s installation consists of 200 liter PVC barrel and a series of photos, that shines a light on just how much water it takes to produce certain foods. With 200 liters of water we produce: 2/3 of avocado, 63g of cheese, 1 egg, 40 almonds, 8.3g of chocolate, 59g of rice
